From rising-star director Leila Djansi, comes her latest film festival winner LIKE COTTON TWINES, starring Jay Ellis (HBO’s Insecure). The story centers around Micah Brown (Ellis) who takes a teaching job in a Ghanaian village where he meets Tuigi, a bright girl who must atone for a deadly accident committed by her father and, according to custom, must abandon her education and be offered into religious slavery. Locked in a battle between history, church and state, Micah is determined to give Tuigi a life outside tradition.
