In the summer of 1945, a small group of children freed from a concentration camp are placed in a remote, run-down palace in the woods under the care of a young guardian. As they try to reclaim a sense of childhood, hunger and isolation set in, and a pack of feral former guard dogs begins to surround the house, forcing them into a desperate fight to survive.
