A Doll's House

1973 · Movie · 103 min · ★ 4.8

Drama

Dolls are toys for children, but adults have been known to play with them from time to time. Torvald and Nora Helmer enjoy a middleclass life in 19th Century Norway, but their marriage is hardly an equal partnership. Torvald domineers his wife, constantly ridiculing her actions as he routinely refers to her as his doll, while manipulating her as one would a plaything. What Torvald doesn't realize is that while he was ill and making no money, his wife made a deal to save the family.
