Shusenjo: The Main Battleground of the Comfort Women Issue

2019 · Movie · 121 min · ★ 7.4

DocumentaryHistory

During WWII the Japanese Army enslaved tens of thousands of women in military brothels. Many Japanese conservatives (with the support of Western media influencers) believe the women were willing prostitutes, not sex slaves, and that the number is far smaller than claimed. Shusenjo explores how this shameful chapter in Japan's history is being denied - creating a new trauma for the survivors.
