Biography
Jan Decleir (born February 14, 1946, in Niel, Belgium) is a Belgian film, television and stage actor, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in Flemish cinema. He made his film debut in Mira (1971) and gained international recognition for his performances in Character (1997), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and the Oscar nominated drama Daens (1992). Alongside his extensive screen career, he is also a highly respected theatre actor and a central figure in Flemish cultural life.
