Biography
Stephen Robert Herek (born November 10, 1958) is an American film director. Herek was born in San Antonio, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin. His career as film director took off in 1986 with Critters followed by Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure where he worked with Keanu Reeves in 1989. He directed Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead in 1991, followed by The Mighty Ducks in 1992, The Three Musketeers in 1993, Mr. Holland's Opus in 1995 and 101 Dalmatians in 1996. Herek also directed the 2001 movie Rock Star, a film about a rockstar wannabe and the evolution of a fictional rock group Steel Dragon mimicking that of Judas Priest. The film starred Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston, and was produced by George Clooney.
