City of Two Springs

2019 · Movie · PG-13 · 70 min

Documentary

In July 2017, Mosul was liberated after three years under IS control. The battle to reclaim the city had razed it to the ground and displaced thousands of civilians. Many of the displaced are now trying to return home. Among them are eleven-year old Ala’ and her family, who fled when IS took over in 2014 and are now making the dangerous back to Mosul. Told through the parallel stories of Ala’ and a senior UN figure leading the international efforts to rebuild the city, this powerful documentary profiles the efforts to raise a city, and a people, from the rubble.
