The One with Hope

In 2016, Danish human rights activist Anja Ringgren Lovén captured worldwide attention when she was filmed offering water to a 2-year-old Nigerian boy, whom she named Hope, on the brink of death. Abandoned after being accused of witchcraft, Hope was brought to Lovén's Land of Hope, one of West Africa's largest safe havens for children, to live alongside more than 90 others who were similarly abused. Blending footage from Lovén's archives and interviews with key players conducted by director and award-winning reporter Martyna Wojciechowska – who also facilitates a first meeting between Hope and his biological mother – The One with Hope chronicles the humanitarian's lifelong drive to give back, while also raising critical awareness of witchcraft accusations.
