In debt $220,000 to the bank, married couple Russel and Mary Jane Jordan are facing the foreclosure of the farm that has been in their family for 125 years. When the news reaches their daughter, Jeanne Jordan, and her husband, Steven Ascher, both filmmakers, the two head from their home in Boston to Iowa, intending to chronicle the family crisis. The Jordans go to extreme lengths to appease the bank, from selling all their possessions to moving into a smaller house in another town.
