Biography
Jan de Hartog (1914 – 2002) was a Dutch playwright, novelist and occasional social critic. When the lead actor of the film adaptation of 'Ergens in Nederland' was mobilized and unable to perform, De Hartog stepped in and played the lead as well. In the early 1960s he moved to the United States and became a Quaker.
