Biography
Paul Story is a Senior Animation Supervisor at Wētā FX. Story has been with Wētā FX since 1996, beginning his journey on Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners. Starting out as a Rotoscope Artist, Paul was inspired by the animation team’s work on the film’s ‘Reaper’ character, sparking his ambition to become an animator. He spent four years in Wētā FX’s creatures department, contributing to developing skeletal and muscle systems for iconic characters such as Gollum and the Cave Troll in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His dedication and skill eventually led him into animation, where he began animating Gollum, Fellbeasts, and Trolls in The Two Towers. From there, he advanced to leading key sequences in The Return of the King and King Kong. As an Animation Supervisor, Paul has played a pivotal role in a number of critically acclaimed projects, including The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Iron Man 3, the Planet of the Apes trilogy, and Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book. His work on Avengers: Infinity War earned him a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature for his contributions to Thanos.
