Biography
Jiří Brožek is a Czech film editor born in 1947 in Roudnice nad Labem. In 1973 he graduated in editing from FAMU in Prague. After school he joined the Barrandov Film Studio, where he worked until 1991. Editor Jiřina Lukešová recommended him to directors Jiří Menzel and Jaroslav Papoušek, with whom he made his first independent film Finally We Understand Each Other (1976). Brožek edited more than 100 feature films, dozens of television productions and a number of television series during his career. He worked with Ladislav Smoljak, Karel Kachyňa, Jiří Menzel and Věra Chytilová. He won the Czech film award Czech Lion nine times and the Slovak film award Sun in the Net twice.
